Trauma Intervention Program

General information

TIP is a program which is dedicated to helping traumatized citizens, emergency responders and hospital personnel. Trained citizen volunteers are called by police officers, firefighters, medical examiners and emergency department staff to provide immediate support to victims of tragic events. For example, our volunteers are frequently called by police officers and firefighters to comfort family members after the sudden, unexpected death of a loved one from either natural or accidental causes. Volunteers are also called by emergency department and ICU personnel to be with dying patients who do not have family members present (the No One Dies Alone program).

Essentially our program adds well trained volunteers to the public safety system and to hospital emergency departments. These volunteers are able to assist those emotionally affected by the emergency who the emergency responders do not have the time to assist. Our volunteers arrive within 20 minutes and provide much needed emotional and practical support.
