General information

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area, managed by the National Park Service, protects 80,000 acres of pristine ecologically and historically significant landscapes surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area. Much of the park is land formally used by the United States Army, which includes historical sites such as Fort Barry and Fort Mason, and several artillery Batteries. The Park is home to world famous tourist attractions such as Muir Woods National Monument, Alcatraz Island, and the Presidio of San Francisco. Since winning the contract in June 2015, Burleson has been working with the National Park Service to provide environmental support on a number of projects. We have conducted Underground Storage Tank and lead-based paint investigations at Fort Baker and Fort Barry, completed a HAZMAT Survey at a former Nike Missile Site (Sweeney Ridge in San Bruno), and conducted soil and geophysical investigations at Fort Mason. We are conducting a project at Alcatraz Island that includes AST removal and designing an Oil Water Separator treatment system. We are also removing contaminated soil from a diesel spill and replacing fuel lines at the Presidio of San Francisco. Our team enjoys working at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge and exploring Alcatraz Island while successfully completing NPS projects.
