General information

Hermauns Animal Hospital has been in existence for 34 years and is now run by Dr Sandy Waddingham. The main hospital has been at 14 Dirkie Uys Street since 1991. We strive to give high quality care at an affordable price and in a friendly environment. All the vets and nurses continually attend educational training so that we can continually update our skills, that way we can give your animals the most up to date treatment. The hospital itself is fully equipped with a great array of medical equipment to treat your pet. Our facilities include and Ultrasound machine, ECG, Gastro scope, proctoscope, this is used for looking into your dogs stomach or rectum. We have laser physiotherapy and electrophysiotherapy machines along with IV machines and anesthetic machines. The hospital also has a large variety of specialized surgery equipment that we use for hip replacements and knee alignments along with all the equipment we need for dentals.

We also run puppy socialization classes. These have been running since 1994, they normally consist of 3 classes on a Wednesday evening. Sometimes held on the farm. They are entirely free of charge and are a huge benefit to your pet. The puppies build confidence in themselves and discipline. The basics and groundwork is laid down with a frame work of a happy relationship between the dog and its human family.

We often have visiting veterinary students or school children who want to see a real practice and how it works. We try really hard to help them get as much practical experience as possible. We have had various overseas students as well.

Dr Sandy Waddingham BVSc

I have been working at the animal hospital for nearly 25 years. At the same time I have seen Hermanus grow from a tiny seaside village to a metropolis. I enjoy dealing with all kinds of animals but specialize in small animals and horses. I prefer the medical side of being a vet and like to practice holistically. I have been studying homeopathy for 8 years now and have passed the hiscontcale exam for homeopathy in England. I hope to have the time to complete the masters Vet Homeopathy exam this year. I have also attended various courses in acupuncture and will continue to study and develop these two fields; nutrition is also one of my pet loves and animal behavior.
