In South Africa we have over 43,000 informal waste pickers who roam around the streets collecting recyclable material. This is how they make a living and sustain themselves.

The biggest challenge they have is the trolleys they use to collect the recyclables. They break down easily and have poor visibility – sometimes leading to road accidents when it is dark.

Our belief is that normal is bloody boring. Business should be a catalyst to social change and should tell a social.

We have therefore built waste trollies that are more functional and durable for the informal waste pickers. The trolleys also acts as a mobile billboards, offering wide brand exposure opportunities for companies. To enhance the safety of the Recycling Hustlers, the trolleys also come with protective gear that is branded and that has reflective strips.

Lastly, in order to somewhat tackle the impoverished lifestyle of these pickers we have included a profit-share whereby the pickers also share in the advertising profits received.
