Amurtel is a global disaster relief and development organization managed by women, specifically for the needs of women and children. (www.amurtel.org).

Our focus in the current refugee population is mothers and babies as well as pregnant and birthing women. This highly vulnerable group is greatly affected by the lack of stable shelter, culturally familiar food and emotional support. The Amurtel staff are women trained in the care of mothers and infants. We go regularly to the established camps in the Athens area and offer help with breastfeeding, infant care, postpartum care of new mothers and assistance during birth if necessary. We attempt to provide infant and mother care supplies that are as close as possible to what mothers are used to in their own countries. We also continually search for ways of being emotional supportive in an appropriate cultural context.

H Amurtel είναι μία παγκόσμια οργάνωση ανακούφισης από καταστροφές που απαρτίζεται από γυναίκες κι επικεντρώνεται αποκλειστικά στις ανάγκες γυναικών και παιδιών.
Στον τωρινό προσφυγικό πληθυσμό , η ομάδα στόχου μας είναι οι μητέρες και τα μωρά, καθώς και οι έγκυες κι επίτοκες γυναίκες.
Αυτή η πολύ ευάλωτη ομάδα επηρεάζεται δραματικά από την έλλειψη στέγης, κατάλληλου φαγητού και συναισθηματικής υποστήριξης.
Η ομάδα της Amurtel είναι γυναίκες εκπαιδευμένες να φροντίζουν μητέρες και παιδιά.
Επισκεπτόμαστε τακτικά τους υπάρχοντες καταυλισμούς Προσφύγων στην Αττική και βοηθάμε στο θηλασμό , στην φροντίδα των βρεφών , στη λοχεία και στον τοκετό αν χρειαστεί. Προσπαθούμε να παρέχουμε σε μητέρες και βρέφη είδη περιποίησης όσο πιο κοντά γίνεται σε αυτά που οι μητέρες χρησιμοποιούσαν στις χώρες τους. Παράλληλα συνεχώς ψάχνουμε για πολιτισμικά κατάλληλους τρόπους συναισθηματικής υποστήριξης .
