Sparta Rotterdam is de oudste club in het Nederlandse betaalde voetbal. Opgericht op 1 april 1888 en de founding partner van het betaalde voetbal in Nederland. De rood-witten werden 6 keer kampioen van Nederland, wonnen 3 keer de KNVB beker en waren de eerste club in de kwartfinale van de Europacup voor Landskampioenen in 1959-1960.
Sinds 1916 spelend op Het Kasteel, het meest historische voetbalstadion van Nederland gesitueerd in de Rotterdamse wijk Spangen.
