Editorial Verbum nació en Madrid, en 1990, fundada por Aurora Calviño y Pío E. Serrano, como homenaje y continuación de Verbum, la revista creada en La Habana, en 1937, por José Lezama Lima y algunos de los integrantes del más tarde conocido como Grupo Orígenes. Dirigida desde 2012 por el escritor hispanocubano Luis Rafael Hernández, en la actualidad el catálogo de Editorial Verbum supera los 1500 títulos.
