Dire CAI e dire Torino è un po' la stessa cosa.
Torino cullata dalle Alpi è stata la culla del Club Alpino. Infatti, all'una del pomeriggio del 23 ottobre 1863, al Castello del Valentino, sulla riva sinistra del Po, 72 Soci fondatori, su impulso di Quintino Sella e Bartolomeo Gastaldi, davano vita al Club Alpino Torino. Il primo Presidente fu il barone Ferdinando Perrone di San Martino e non il Sella, come talora erroneamente creduto.
