Die Aeugstenhütte liegt auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Glarus, mit unverwechselbarem Panoramablick auf das Glarnerland. Sie liegt rund 1000 Meter oberhalb von Ennenda, nämlich auf 1500 m.ü.M.
Vom Tal aus ist sie über eine moderne Seilbahn oder zu Fuss über diverse Wanderwege erreichbar. Die Seilbahn erstreckt sich zwischen Ennenda (beim Altersheim Bühli) und dem "Bärenboden" auf Aeugsten. Eine Fahrt mit einer 8-er Gondel dauert ca. 7 Minuten. Vom Bärenboden aus bis zur Aeugstenhütte sind 10 bis 15 Minuten Fussmarsch zu bewältigen.
