General information

The history of the Chomat family can be traced to 18th century France. Our ancestors originated from the area of Saint-Etienne, a small, picturesque town in the French mountains. By the end of 18th century our family was already involved in the traditional craft of upholstery, cabinet and bed making.

Theophile Chomat, one of the sons of the large family of Francoise Chomat, moved to Czechia after the First World War with the intention of continuing the traditional family craft. His plans were unfortunately thwarted by the uncertainty of the period between the First and Second World Wars.
In spite of the adversity of these difficult years, the skills and scrupulous adherence to the fine art of cabinet making and upholstery, were passed on from generation to generation, together with the love of nature and family. The turning point occurred at the end of the 1990's when favourable conditions allowed the resurrection and fulfillment of our family's dreams.

"Le CHOMAT" is our family's crowning glory, combining the family tradition of the highest level of craftsmanship and many years of experience in the production of natural mattresses and upholstered beds.

The unforgettable memories of my grandfather, who lovingly worked on each piece of furniture in his small workshop, inspired me to combine the present with the nostalgic past and resume our family's beautiful tradition Le Chomat".
