The Rothwell ward on Leeds City Council is represented by two Labour councillors and one Liberal Democrat councillor. Councillor Karen Bruce won her seat in May 2011 and became the first Labour councillor to be elected in Rothwell this century. Cllr David Nagle was elected in May 2012
It is part of the Elmet and Rothwell constituency and from 1997 was represented by a Labour MP, but from 2010 has been represented by Tory Alec Shelbrooke MP.
