General information

SPOTLIGHT is an independent part-time stage school based in North Solihull (Castle Bromwich & Kingshurst). It is the only school in the area where performers can train in ALL aspects of theatre arts whilst continuing academic studies at their existing school.

Each discipline is taught by a specialist teacher who is a professional in their field. The school also attracts a variety of 'guest' teachers. All staff are fully qualified and CRB checked.

There are both beginner classes and lessons for those with previous experience, for boys and girls aged 30 months through to adult. Pupils can attend for fun, to make new friends, to increase self-confidence, or with a view to becoming a professional performer/teacher of theatre arts.

The school currently provides tuition to well over 350 pupils. Our large membership means that we can split classes by both age AND ability to ensure every pupil receives the best possible tuition.

SPOTLIGHT offers fun and rewarding classes with the chance to take I.D.T.A. government recognised exams, participate in shows & enter competitions. We also have an in-school agency for pupils who wish to work professionally.

Due to highly qualified teaching staff and excellent pupil:teacher ratios, we have a 100% A*-C pass rate in exams, with many students being nominated for and winning international scholarships for achieving exceptionally high marks. Pupils have won numerous medals and trophies in regional and national competitions, including British titles. Pupils regularly appear in shows at prestigious venues including Disneyland Paris, West End Theatres & the O2 Arena, as well as local theatres such as the Birmingham Hippodrome, Alex Theatre, Birmingham Rep, Wolverhampton Grand, NEC, ICC, MAC & Solihull Arts Complex.

All pupils are automatically represented by the SPOTLIGHT AGENCY and can be considered for paid/professional work if they so wish. Such work includes films, TV dramas/commercials, professional stage productions (inc. national tours), modelling and work in recording studios.

We are open throughout the week, though all the main classes are held on a Saturday. Please contact us for exact times based on age and ability.

We operate from 2 fantastic venues in North Solihull which are very spacious with ample free car-parking.

Fees are very low, starting at £1.50/30 mins, as we are supported by the National Lottery, Solihull Community Foundation & B’ham Airport. We also offer a pay-as-you-go system, so parents do not have to commit to a course of lessons.
