Aurora Counselling & Therapy Company Information

General information

This is my business Facebook page through which I can be contacted. My posts are articles of interest relating to mental and physical wellness, emotional intelligence and relationships.
Based in Chester, Cheshire, I am a BACP registered accredited integrative counsellor. I offer counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), emotional freedom techniques (EFT) and counselling supervision. I am an affiliate counsellor with a number of Employee Assistance Providers providing counselling and CBT to the private sector and Government departments. I am a LGBT affirmative therapist. Whether we meet face to face or online my aim is always to provide you with a safe and supportive space, and a relationship based on compassion and respect. I am committed to providing a service which is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and is supportive and non-discriminatory. I have a genuine healing intent and offer commitment, honesty and utmost respect for yourself as an individual.

My areas of experience include:
Anxiety, Depression, Addictions, Bereavement, Change & Loss, Domestic Violence, PTSD, Childhood Trauma, Phobias and Spiritual Counselling and more.

We can work together face to face in my therapy room or online using a secure (HIPAA and ICO.org.uk Compliant) video link.

You may be experiencing the pain of grief, illness, relationship break-up; or possibly some other form of addictive behaviour such as gambling, over the counter painkillers or internet porn. You may have been struggling for a long time to move forward with your life because you experienced something traumatic in your past [e.g.: Childhood Sexual Abuse [CSA], rape, a road traffic accident [RTA] or survived a natural/man-made disaster] or you feel held hostage by low self-esteem, depression or some form of anxiety disorder such as, OCD, panic attacks, social phobia, for example.

Believe it or not everything I’ve listed here [and more] are often one or more of the problems that lay beneath a person’s alcohol/drug misuse. Over the ten years working in the field of drug and alcohol services I have worked mainly with men and women who not only experience those things already mentioned, but often in addition to other problems such as social isolation, domestic violence, severe and enduring mental illness and [or as well as] repeat offending. So one thing I would like to reassure you about today is that, whatever your problem is, I will not judge you for having it. My aim is to support you as you work through, and out of, your problem.

A word! I have never been shocked by what someone says is their problem but I have been frequently surprised to hear a person ‘apologise’ because ‘they’ don’t think ‘their’ problem is serious, or severe, enough to warrant seeing a counsellor. ‘Your’ problem is just that, YOURS! No one else is living with it except you. I am here and I am ready to listen.

My initial three years [1996-1999] of training and study established me in the Person Centred Approach. This has remained my core therapeutic approach. I draw from a range of interventions in order to provide the right support for each of my unique clients. I integrate theories and practice from mainly three types of therapy: Person-Centred - Cognitive Behavioural –Transactional Analysis. On request, or when deemed to offer therapeutic benefit, [with a client’s consent] I will integrate Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to specifically address the underlying energetic aspects of a problem.

In 2008-2009 I trained and gained qualifications in Online Counselling.

I am passionate about working alongside people with their problems so I am therefore committed to continuing professional development (CPD). As a BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for good practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am an accredited practitioner and this can be checked out on the BACP register of counsellors & psychotherapists. This register is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.

N.B: Anyone wishing to access counselling/psychotherapy exclusively to address substance addiction/dependence will, if their substance is alcohol or opiates, be expected to self -refer to their own GP for a health check and/or prescribed reduction or detox off their substance. Sudden withdrawal from alcohol can be fatal without medical supervision.

Because Facebook will only allow me to list my fees in US dollars you will need to visit my website or the BACP 'Its Good to Talk' website to see them for yourself. I do operate a sliding scale and offer concessions. Information about these can also be found on my website. If you have any queries please direct message me or fill in the enquiry form on my website at:
