ASC Inclusion is a programme that aims to build social skills through play. LEGO therapy was established by Daniel LeGoff. LEGO Therapy provides a joint interest and Goal for the ASC child. LEGO building becomes the medium for social development such as sharing, turn-taking, making eye contact and following social rules.
The initial drive for establishing Lego based therapy was simply because there was not an effective social development program available with evidence that was measurable or successful.
The reason LEGO was chosen is that it has been noted that children with ASC tend to be uninterested in social learning and have little intrinsic motivation to improve their social functioning (Attwood 1998). However the medium of LEGO is safe, predictable, replicable and familiar to all children but specifically this appeals to ASC children.
Therefore after much study, research and training we now feel the time is right to launch our program and hope that you can find time to support us either by promoting awareness or being a venue for a LEGO Club.
