Torbay School Of Dance

Torbay School of Dance was established 40 years ago in Paignton,Torbay, and is still run by Mrs Jillian Webber one of the original founders of the school.

Classes are offered in ballet (both R.A.D and N.A.T.D.), Tap, Modern Jazz (N.A.T.D.),and musical theatre.

The dancing school welcomes all ages and abilities and has pupils whos age's range from 3 to 73! Many of our mature students began dancing with us as children and have seen their own children or even grandchildren follow in their footsteps.

Dance class sizes are kept small (usually no more than 12) so that every child receives the individual attention that is appropriate for their ability. If demand for a class is high then a parallel class is started in order to maintain this policy. This enables the teachers to bring outthe best in all pupils and ensures that everybody feels a sence of achievement.

All students have the chance to perform in front of an audience at the schools bi-annualchristmas show that has traditionaly taken place at Paignton's Palace Avenue Theatre. Pupils also have the opportunity to participate in the region's dance festivals at Exeter, Paignton and Plymouth if they so wish.

For most children, dance classes will never be more than a hobby, for some they are the start of a career and the first step to a cherished ambition. Whichever category a child falls into, he or she will find a happy and supportive atmosphere at Torbay School of Dance where their abilities will be nurtured and their confidence can grow.
