Hurlingham Yacht Club Company Information

General information

Our Hurlingham Yacht Club has had an interesting and exciting history. Our members originally formed the Club long before the First World War. Its current name was adopted in 1922 and then in 1929 it moved into the current premises on Deodar Road, Putney. In the Second World War some of our members took part at Dunkirk.
We now enjoy some of the best facilities on the River Thames. The members have the use of over 3000 feet of river moorings and a large pontoon berth and River Rescue Station at Broomhouse. At the club itself there is a landing stage, a dry-dock, dinghy moorings, an excellent clubhouse with bar, kitchen, toilets & showers and of course lots of equipment for repairing and rebuilding boats.
Many members own motorboats and RIBs, and although sailing is more difficult with so many London Bridges, a number do own yachts and sailing dinghies. We pride ourselves that our members come from all walks of life, religions and origins. Some of our members are among the most highly qualified and talented Yachtmasters, craftsmen, engineers and boat experts in the UK.
The club has good working partnerships with the Port of London Authority, the Environment Agency, Wandsworth Council, the local Police and the RNLI for whom they raise funds. The club also enjoys excellent relationships with its business and domestic neighbours and schools and is renowned for its charitable activities and fund raising events.
Other organisations benefit from the use of the club facilities including the very active Putney Divers Club, the Maritime Voluntary Service amongst others. We are actively involved in improving the River Thames environment, including the areas around the Putney Bridge slipways and Wandsworth Bridge.
Our own forthcoming events will include many day trips upriver to beautiful Richmond and beyond and many exciting downriver trips past Tower Bridge to the Medway. For the more adventurous we have trips planned convoys to Calais.
The Commodore and The Club Committee manage the Club on behalf of the members and new members are always welcome. If you are interested you can email us on info@hurlinghamyachtclub.co.uk or telephone us on 020 8788 5547.
Or you can visit us from 9pm on Thursday or Friday evenings at the clubhouse and bar. It will be open as it always has been for the last 80+ years! When you arrive just ask for the Club Secretary who will tell you all about the club and how to apply for membership. We think our club is a real treasure and we would all be delighted to meet potential new members.
