General information

The Walled Garden is one of Ireland’s oldest walled gardens. Originally created to supply the Castle with its fruit and vegetables, The Walled Garden is now filled with exciting flowers and specimen plants to interest the keenest garden enthusiast. Beautiful and filled with colour thoughout the seasons, the garden is open from May, when you can see the fabulous displays of spring bulbs along with the apple and pear blossom, right up until the end of September when the garden is still in bloom with rich displays of herbaceous plants.

Our charming Tea Room, situated in the old Mushroom House, is open daily to garden visitors. Here you can relax and enjoy a delicious homemade cream tea or a light lunch, overlooking the kitchen garden. Our gift shop, located within the Tea Room sells top quality Glenarm Castle merchandise, as well as gifts for the gardener.

The Walled Garden and Tea Room is open throughout the summer, from March to September. This year it will be open from Friday 29th March 2013. Opening Times are from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5.30pm and Sunday 11 noon until 5pm. (Last orders in the Tea Room are 30 minutes before the advertised closing time).

We regret that dogs are not permitted in The Walled Garden, with the exception of guide dogs

Glenarm Castle is first and foremost a family home, however it is open to the general public for guided tours on the occasional date throughout the year. Please keep an eye on the our website for future opening dates.
