Prisons Memory Archive Company Information
General information
The Prisons Memory Archive has filmed 175 people who were connected to the Maze and Long Kesh Prisons and Armagh Gaol during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Participants, who were recorded in 2006 at the now derelict prison sites, include prison staff, prisoners, chaplains, probation officers, visitors and teachers. Accompanied only by a camera operator, they describe their experiences using the site itself as a stimulus for their memories. The PMA is currently in post-production designing software for an interactive digital archive that will allow access to multi-narratives of our contested past.
