General information
Ascential climbing offer a variety of different indoor and outdoor courses.
Indoor climbing taster sessions (adults/children)
Outdoor climbing taster sessions (adults/children)
Adult climbing competency course, learn the basics of putting on your harness, tying onto your harness and the correct belaying method.

Intro to indoor lead climbing. We will teach you all the nesasarry skills and techniques to become a confident lead climber.
Intro to outdoor sports climbing. This is probably the 1st step to take in outdoor lead climbing. We will show you all the skills required to become a safe sports climber, including the correct lower off technique.
Intro to leading outdoor trad. This course is designed for people who are looking to take their 1st steps into leading a climb whilst placeing their on protection. We will look at how to place protection and build basic belay stances.
Hill and mountain skills courses
Basic navigiton course. If you have never used a map and compass before then this is a perfect starting point. We will teach you the basics needed to be able to navigate around the local countryside using marked path ways and linear features. We will cover basic map interpretation and compass skills.
Intermediate navigation. This is for people who have some basic map and compass skills and want to learn how to start heading off the paths and using attack points and collecting features to head to.
Advance navigation. For people who have a good understanding of map and compass work, but may want to learn some of the more precise methods of navigating and relocating in poor visibility.This course will cover timing, paceing, relocating tactics and much more.
Wild camping. What better way to get out and make the most of the countryside. Once booked onto this course we will help and advise you before the trip on what kit and food is needed to enjoy your night under stars. Once out on the hill we will show you where and how to pitch your tent correctly, how to collect and treat water before use.
We will also cover elements of navigation relevant to your experience, during your time out on the hill.
