Oadby and Leicester Gymnastics Club Company Information

General information

At OLGC each gymnastics class is designed to have lots of fun whilst learning gymnastics skills. Our recreational classes focus on developing strength, flexibility, coordination and confidence whilst making friends and learning new and exciting skills.

In October 2016 the club moved to a wonderful new venue, with everything our gymnasts need; a competition-sized sprung floor, tumble and air tracks, vault, beam, bars, rings, pommel, trampettes and excitingly, a foam pit!

Our enthusiastic coaching team is led by Head Coach, Jon Mutch (former British Champion, represented Great Britain and Scotland in the European and Commonwealth Games). Jon has also appeared in films, such as Batman Begins, and the Fosters advert on TV!

We’re all about fun, fitness and friendship, with NEW classes for all ages and abilities. Fun recreational classes for children, squad sessions for those wishing to train harder and aspiring to compete, parent & tots sessions for children 3 and under and adult gymnastics sessions.

Also at the gym: Tricking, Freestyle Gymnastics, Cheerleading, and fitness classes. The unit can be hired for events such as parties (eg. birthdays, hen-does) and corporate team building etc.

Recreational Classes Ages 4-16
At OLGC each recreational gymnastics class is designed to have lots of fun whilst learning gymnastics skills. All of our recreational classes focus on developing strength, flexibility, coordination and confidence whilst making friends and learning new and exciting skills. We encourage all gymnasts to reach their full potential at their own pace.
Each 60 minute class begins with a fun warm up and stretch, followed by scheduled rotations to vault, bars, beam, floor and tumble / air track, for the girls, and floor, pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar and tumble / air track for the boys. Gymnasts will be grouped according to skill level and age.
Skills taught in these recreational sessions include developing handstands, cartwheels, bridges, rolls, walkovers and many other basics. In every session we work on increasing strength, body control, flexibility, confidence and coordination.
Classes run for 44 weeks of the year. The gym is closed for 6 weeks during the summer holidays and 2 weeks for Christmas. Fees are spread out over the entire year (52 weeks), to keep payments equal each month, so fees are still due during the summer and Christmas break. Classes run as normal during bank holidays and half term breaks.

Register your child by coming to the gym or calling 0116 326 6324 or text 07813205852. Space is limited and classes fill quickly so you may be added to our waiting list for certain days.

Q&A

How do I book my child into gymnastics?
You can email our receptionist Jane - jane@oadbygymnastics.co.uk or ring 0116 326 6324 (office hours are from 4pm-7:30pm) You can also message our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/OadbyGymnastics Please do not contact Jon or Amara directly.

What should my child wear?
Please send your child in comfortable clothing e.g leotard underneath leggings/shorts or a t-shirt and shorts. No shoes or socks. No jewellery or headbands can be worn. Please send your child with a water/soft drink - drinks must be left in reception in the boxes provided. Drinks are also sold at reception.

Can I watch my child's' session?
Currently all parents/minders must wait in the viewing room by reception. There is a television screen with cameras linked to the gym for your viewing. Parents/minders must not enter the gym at any time.

What happens if my child misses a session?
You do not need to let us know if you will miss a session, your space will still be secure as long as payment has been made - no refunds are given. However, you will be removed from the session if you consecutively miss 4 classes without payment. If you do wish to leave the club, please give Jane at least 1 month notice. If you wish to rejoin, you will be added to the end of the waiting list.

How soon will my child be offered a place?
This is hard to predict as spaces come available when members leave. Our longest waiting list is for recreational gymnastics, ages 7-9.

How does my child get into the squad?
Gymnasts must be invited and tested to be in our squad sessions. Amara determines who is in the girls squad and Jon is head of the boys squad. We currently have a waiting list for the girls B squad.

Will my child be entering any competitions?
We will run mini club competitions for gymnasts who are in the recreational sessions. We will also have monthly awards and challenges for all gymnasts in the recreational sessions.

For the squad, the coaches will determine when gymnasts are ready to compete.
