Die Firma Born gibt es bereits seit 40 Jahren. Der erste Standort war an der Hauptstrasse 134, neben der jetzigen Westfalen-Tankstelle im Möllenkotten. Das Geschäft wurde von Walter Born von 1973 bis 1998 geführt.
1998 wurde das Geschäft von Thomas Born übernommen und ein neuer Standort in der Oelkinghauser Straße neben dem LIDL- Verbrauchermarkt verwirklicht.
Gleichzeitig wurde das Sortiment wesentlich erweitert. Der mehr vorhandene Platz (insgesamt ca. 100qm Verkaufsfläche) wurde vor allem für das Sortiment Schulbedarf genutzt.
