Die Biennale möchte das Material Porzellan als bildsamen Werkstoff stärker in den Fokus der Öffentlichkeit rücken. Es soll das Verständnis befördert werden, dass Porzellan ein Ausdrucksmittel der Kunst, für Inhalte und Nachricht ist. Die Ausstellung ist Schaufenster für zeitgenössische Porzellankunst in Sachsen, Deutschland, Europa und die Welt.
