Das Biosphärenreservat Bliesgau ist geprägt durch wertvolle Streuobstbestände, artenreiche Wiesentypen, ausgedehnte Buchenwälder und der von der Blies durchzogenen Auenlandschaft. Im Vergleich zu den anderen deutschen Biosphärenreservaten ist der Bliesgau mit seinem Verdichtungsraum im Norden und einer Bevölkerungsdichte über dem Bundesdurchschnitt (311 Einwohner pro Quadratkilometer) recht städtisch geprägt und gerade dieser Umstand macht uns weltweit als Biosphärenreservat einmalig.
