n i i n built its name on its passion for design and raw creativity with a penchant for the chic and wearable. *Our Mission:
After graduating from Central Saint Martin’s in 2001 (B.A Hons Fashion Design, Womenswear), Jeanine Hsu started her career in the Vienna workshops for the Salzburg Festival and the Vienna Burg Theatre’s productions. With this foundation in handcrafted garments, Jeanine furthered her expertise under Vivienne Westwood and worked behind the scenes for international fashion brands from Diesel to Alice Temperley.

She launched n i i n in 2005 with the aim of creating artisan jewellery that combines natural materials and a light environmental footprint. While cutting her teeth in the iconic Portobello and Spitalfields markets, the brand was born and began to flourish. This initial success brought the brand to the forefront of British design showcasing at Harrods displays.

Three years later n i i n relocated to Hong Kong. n i i n is currently represented in over twelve countries and has its showroom in Central District, Hong Kong. The showroom itself is true to the brand’s identity as a concept space, designed using repurposed and recycled resources without compromising style or function.

After rebranding, n i i n quickly found success with select worldwide retailers ranging from Ku De Ta in Bali to exclusive Four Seasons Hotels. The brand’s impetus for green initiatives soon paved the way for local collaborations where n i i n featured alongside John Hardy in the Redress Show and is currently working together with HK eco- Designer Johanna Ho. Naturally, the brand cemented its online presence by launching niinstyle.com in 2011 and within six months was available through other portals including shoplatitude.com and myflashtrash.com.

With its imminent promotion to leading department stores, n i i n has featured in publications such as Tatler, Elle, The Guardian and Blue Carreon’s styleintel.com. n i i n promises to remain an important player in Hong Kong’s luxury fashion landscape, as it looks toward further international expansion.

Jeanine Hsu’s achievements have also earned her academic appointments with the Hong Kong School of Creativity, where Hsu was Artist in Residence in 2009, and the Hong Kong Design Institute, where she currently is a Part-time Lecturer in Jewellery Design.

niin endeavours to be socially and environmentally responsible by striving to:

-use sustainable/recycled materials and production methods
niin has set up a production chain where off cuts from one of Asia’s high end furniture factories are taken to workshops and up-cycled where possible into niin designs. These are then sold in recycled packaging. The niin showroom space is filled with furniture and displays made from re-purposed materials.

-support small/family run businesses
niin's first producers were a husband and wife team whom Hsu befriended at a Hong Kong market. They still produce for niin today, alongside two other family run businesses in the Philippines that niin visits regularly.

-collaborate with charities such as WWF to raise funds and environmental awareness
niin has donated sale proceeds to, and helped to raise awareness for, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Clean Air Network, and Ecovision. niin has also organised a beach cleanup for the Hong Kong International Coastal Cleanup Challenge and taken an active role in advocating marine conservation and Hong Kong's anti sharkfinning cause. niin supported the films Sharkwater and End of the Line and is selling the book Man and Shark (by Paul Hilton and Alex Hofford) at the niin showroom. Recently, niin collaborated with WWF and Marissa Fung-Shaw at Creative Partnerships Limited to create the Gaia Bracelets, now being sold at the niin showroom, Four Seasons Hotel, Hong Kong and the National Museum Monaco.
