開普洋酒之母公司－鳳泰貿易（股）公司設立於1986年之菸酒開放自由進口的前夕，當年鳳泰只扮演進口代理之業務，而後基於市場的需求，經董事會決議，於 1990年另組織成立了開普洋菸酒（股）公司，也是全台灣第一家以公司型態，有系統、有組織，完整結構下成立的現代化菸酒專賣門市連鎖店，開創台灣菸酒專賣店的新頁，銷售世界各國之菸酒超過七百個品項，除門市之經營外，開普也積極的投入了市場的行銷，經銷系統的建立，同時也樹立了良好的信譽。
